Gaisin I.R., Kochurov E.K., Loshkarev E.A., Galeev A.S., Kholzoda S.A., Gubaydullina Z.R.

Abstract

The data on the prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and its phenotypes, the evolution of steatotic liver disease terminology and its association with cardiovascular diseases were summarized. A systematic search for relevant publications in the PubMed database was performed.

MASLD has become one of the most prevalent and underappreciated cardiovascular threats. It is closely associated with the development and progression of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, arrhythmias, conduction disorders, hypertension and heart failure. Moreover, MASLD is a crucial part of the cardiohepatorenal continuum. Raising awareness of MASLD among the general public and at-risk populations, unifying existing guidelines for cardiometabolic diseases, and the development of regional and global strategies to combat MASLD are essential to tackle the cardiometabolic pandemic.

The role of modern dairy products as a calcium source for tooth mineralization in primary school children

Kuman O.A.

Abstract

A systematic review of the comparative effectiveness of modern dairy products as a source of calcium and phosphates for secondary mineralization (remineralization) of permanent teeth in primary school children was conducted, based on the analysis of systematic reviews and meta-analyses published between 2021 and 2025.

A narrative review with elements of systematic approach was conducted on the role of dairy products and calcium in post-eruptive enamel maturation and remineralization of initial lesions. The search was performed in PubMed/MEDLINE and Scopus (2021–2025) using the terms “dairy”, “milk”, “calcium”, “enamel remineralization”, “children”, “dental caries” and “CPP-ACP” supplemented by manual screening of reference lists from relevant articles. Source selection was carried out in three stages according to PRISMA guidelines: identification (database and manual search), screening (by title and abstract), and eligibility assessment (full-text analysis). Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and key narrative/epidemiological studies were included. Studies focusing exclusively on adults, primary caries of deciduous teeth, or those without data on dairy product composition or enamel mineralization were excluded. Risk of bias was assessed using the AMSTAR-2 tool for systematic reviews; primary clinical studies were evaluated using the Jadad scale for RCTs or the Newcastle-Ottawa criteria for observational studies.

Adequate intake of calcium and phosphates is essential for post-eruptive enamel maturation and maintaining the demineralization/remineralization balance. Modern dairy products (milk, kefir, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese) are a convenient dietary source of bioavailable calcium and phosphates, as well as casein proteins, which help maintain saliva supersaturation with respect to hydroxyapatite. According to reviews, consumption of milk and unsweetened fermented dairy products in childhood does not generally increase caries risk and may be associated with lower caries prevalence, whereas sweetened dairy drinks and desserts should be limited due to added sugars. At the same time, limiting free sugars as the leading dietary risk factor for caries remains important.

Thus, milk and unsweetened fermented dairy products, can be considered as a convenient source of bioavailable calcium and phosphates and as a dietary component supporting the remineralization potential of the oral cavity in primary school children. The preventive value of dairy products is reduced when sweetened dairy drinks and desserts are chosen due to added sugars; therefore, priority should be given to low-sugar options.

Comparative analysis of digital solutions for call center organization in dental clinics

Kazantsev M.V., Isaeva N.V., Khlebnikov A.A.

Abstract

Based on a review of modern scientific literature, the organizational and functional requirements for digital solutions for dental clinic call centers was determined, and comparative analysis of the most common architectures for such solutions was conducted.

An analytical review of 26 publications from 2021-2025 from domestic and foreign sources was conducted on digital transformation in dentistry, electronic dental records, teledentistry, organizational aspects of CRM/MIS implementation, and medical data protection. Based on the literature data, a comparative matrix was created for four classes of solutions used in dental practice: integrated medical information systems, specialized dental cloud platforms, CRM/contact centers with medical integration, and hybrid architectures. The comparison was based on the criteria of contact routing, appointment support, integration with electronic documentation, analytics, information security, scalability, and implementation complexity.

It has been established that the digitalization of a call center in a dental clinic should not be viewed as isolated telephony, but rather as a single point of patient access management. The most significant requirements include a unified schedule, two-way communication with the patient, integration with electronic dental records, re-contact tools, transparent analytics, and formalized data access management. Specialized dental platforms and cloud-based solutions offer faster implementation and convenient communication, while integrated medical systems and hybrid architectures provide advantages for deep integration, management reporting, and support for large organizations. The most vulnerable areas remain interoperability, semantic data compatibility, the quality of initial data entry, and the protection of personal data.

For medium-sized dental clinics, solutions that combine patient management, appointment booking, communication channels, and electronic documentation in a single digital framework are the most rational. For large organizations and institutions with higher reporting and integration requirements, a hybrid approach that combines specialized dental functionality with a corporate medical information infrastructure is advisable.

Brovko M.A., Chekhonatskiy A.A., Komleva N.E., Annikov Y.G., Chekhonatskiy V.A., Tsyganov V.I., Annikova O.V., Urzaleeva I.A., Mazilov S.I.

Abstract

Objective. To study the influence of medical and social characteristics of the patient on the possibility of predicting the course of ischemic stroke in the acute period.

Materials and methods. A prospective cohort study was conducted involving 162 patients with ischemic stroke, hospitalized within the first 24 hours of symptom onset, were examined. The degree of neurological deficit and stroke severity were assessed using the NIHSS at 1- to 2-day intervals for 4 weeks during the acute period (up to 21 days) and the early recovery phase. Upon admission, 38 patients (23.4 %) had a mild stroke, 44 patients (27.2 %) had a moderate stroke, 36 patients (22.2 %) had a moderate to severe stroke, and 44 patients (27.2 %) had a severe stroke. Changes in stroke severity according to NIHSS were recorded as a percentage of the baseline values obtained upon admission.

Results. When assessing the dynamics of changes in stroke severity using the NIHSS, four patterns of acute disease course were identified. In the first pattern, characterized by a rapid increase in symptoms during the first seven days, stroke severity increased significantly, while the patient’s condition remained stable over the next two weeks, with some improvement by the end of the acute period. In the second pattern a slow progression of stroke severity was noted. The third pattern was characterized by an intermittent course, with alternating periods of stabilization and deterioration. The fourth pattern was characterized by a moderate increase in clinical symptoms during the first two weeks, followed by their almost complete disappearance by the end of the acute period (day 21), corresponding to the concept of "minor stroke." Patients in the first three groups with specific patterns of acute ischemic stroke were analyzed for 12 risk factors. Based on the study results, a generalized medical and social patient profile was formulated for each identified pattern of acute ischemic stroke.

Conclusions. During the study, a model for predicting the course of the acute period of ischemic stroke was developed, which demonstrates a reliability of over 80 % in the presence of three risk factors.

Clinical and laboratory status of breast cancer patients with chemotherapy-induced polyneuropathy: a pilot study

Karakulova Y.V., Vychugzhanina A.A.

Abstract

Objective. Chemotherapy-induced polyneuropathy (CIPN) is a common complication of cancer treatment, including breast cancer (BC). Despite its high prevalence, reliable methods for predicting CIPN remain insufficiently developed. The aim of this study was to assess the role of clinical and laboratory parameters in the development of CIPN, including its painful form, in patients with BC.

Materials and methods. An exploratory study was conducted including female patients with histologically confirmed BC scheduled to receive docetaxel-containing chemotherapy (ChT). Exclusion criteria were diabetes mellitus, neurological disorders associated with peripheral neuropathy, pregnancy, and lactation. The following parameters were assessed: age, body mass index (BMI), Ostrovsky leukocytic intoxication index (LII), marital and employment status, comorbidities, BC stage, chemotherapy regimen, and Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI) score. CIPN was evaluated using the PainDETECT questionnaire, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) before treatment initiation and after 4 cycles of CT. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and binary logistic regression (p < 0.05).

Results. The study included 54 patients. After 4 cycles of chemotherapy, grade 2 neuropathy severity according to the CTCAE scale was diagnosed in 71.2 % of patients. Significant predictors of the neuropathic pain component according to the PAINDETECT scale were age (AOR = 1.126; p = 0.007) and baseline CSI score (AOR = 0.873; p = 0.001). Significant predictors of pain according to VAS were stage III BC (AOR = 21.340; p = 0.04; the point AOR estimate is unstable due to a wide 95 % CI and a small subgroup size) and LII according to Ostrovsky (AOR = 0.476; p = 0.035).

Conclusions. Clinically significant manifestations of CIPN develop in BC patients receiving taxane-based chemotherapy as early as after 4 treatment cycles. Age, disease stage, LII and baseline CSI score are significant predictors of pain syndrome and neuropathic pain.

Correlation of general somatic and dental status with halitosis in individuals aged 18–22 years

Linchenko I.V., Polyanskaya O.G., Bocharova V.S., Prokhorenko S.A.

Abstract

Objective. To evaluate the frequency of halitosis among students of the Faculty of Dentistry at Volgograd State Medical University and the relationship between halitosis and dental and general somatic status.

Materials and methods. The study involved students of the Faculty of Dentistry at Volgograd State Medical University, selected randomly. A survey was conducted on the presence of prosthetic and orthodontic appliances in the oral cavity, dental and general somatic pathology, and manifestations of bad breath. Caries intensity of dental (DMFT – the total number of decayed, missing and filled teeth per individual) and the presence and severity of gingivitis (PMA – papillary-marginal-alveolar index) were instrumentally assessed. A portable HC 312 halimeter was used for objective assessment of halitosis manifestations. Statistical calculations were performed using STATGRAPHICS Centurion 19 package (Statgraphics Technologies, Inc., USA).

Results. In 16 % of the students partial tooth loss was revealed. 22 % of students had prosthetic appliances in the oral cavity; among them, 62 % had artificial crowns, and 38 % had post-and-core restorations. 29 % of students are under the care of an orthodontist; among them 46 % are affected by halitosis.

28 % had diagnosed gastrointestinal diseases, and 23 % had ENT disorders. 33 % of the surveyed students of the Faculty of Dentistry reported subjective bad breath. As a result of the study, the degree of correlation varied widely: Spearman's rank correlation coefficient ranged from 0.004 to 0.8212 in absolute value, covering almost the entire Chaddock scale range, from very weak to strong correlation. There is a probabilistic relationship between the halimeter and PMA index readings, which makes it possible to predict the value of one indicator based on the known value of the other.

Conclusions. The prevalence of intraoral halitosis ranged from 30 % to 35 % among the surveyed students of the Faculty of Dentistry. Among the causes contributing to the development of halitosis, both local factors (gingivitis, inadequate maintenance of prosthetic and orthodontic appliances in the oral cavity, poor oral hygiene), and systemic factors (ENT disorders and gastrointestinal diseases) were identified. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient showed a direct correlation between halitosis and the PMA index (the higher the PMA index, the higher the halitosis level).

Predictors of severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia in extremely low birth weight infants: results of a retrospective cohort study

Permyakova A.V., Pospelova N.S., Bakhmetyeva O.B.

Abstract

Objective. To identify clinical, laboratory and echocardiographic characteristics of the first day of life associated with severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia in extremely low birth weight infants.

Material and methods. A single-centre retrospective cohort study was conducted at the Perm Regional Perinatal Center in 2020–2024. Eighty-two infants with a birth weight below 1000 g (range 560–998 g) and a gestational age of 23–30 weeks were included. Within the first 24 hours of life all infants underwent echocardiography (patent ductus arteriosus diameter, LA/Ao ratio, retrograde diastolic flow, pulmonary artery pressure), neurosonography, chest radiography, and haematological and biochemical testing. BPD severity was graded at 36 weeks postmenstrual age according to Jensen et al. (2019). The outcome was grade III BPD. Continuous variables were compared with the Mann–Whitney test and categorical variables with Fisher exact test; the Benjamini–Hochberg procedure was applied to all 43 comparisons. Logistic regression was used to assess independent contributions.

Results. The outcome was assessed in 80 of 82 infants; two died before 36 weeks postmenstrual age and were treated as a competing outcome. Grade III BPD occurred in 28 infants (35.0 %). Severe BPD was associated with lower gestational age (median 26 vs 27 weeks), lower birth weight (800 vs 935 g), lower 1-minute Apgar score (4 vs 5), lower total protein (33.0 vs 39.0 g/L), shorter body length (33 vs 35 cm) and maternal gestational diabetes (17.9 % vs 0 %); all six differences remained significant after correction for multiplicity. Early haemodynamic parameters were not associated with the outcome: ductal diameter (p = 0.173), retrograde diastolic flow (p = 0.797), LA/Ao below 1.4 (p = 0.188), pulmonary artery pressure (p = 0.212), anterior cerebral artery resistance index (p = 0.462). In the multivariable model gestational age (OR 0.42; 95 % CI 0.25–0.71) and 1-minute Apgar score (OR 0.56; 95 % CI 0.33–0.95) remained independent predictors; the area under the ROC curve was 0.834, and 0.825 after optimism correction.

Conclusions. The severity of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in extremely low birth weight infants is determined by immaturity and the condition at birth, whereas first-day cardiovascular adaptation parameters, including ductal diameter, carry no independent prognostic value.

Key predictors of mortality in comorbid patients under remote follow-up

Emelkina V.V., Koshurnikova E.P., Mishlanov V.Y.

Abstract

Objective. To determine predictors of the risk of developing adverse outcomes in patients with comorbid pathology, including broncho-obstructive and cardiovascular diseases, during remote follow-up.

Materials and methods. The study included 79 patients (aged 40 to 88 years, 73.4 % men), predominantly urban residents, with combined respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. As predictors of adverse outcomes during dynamic observation, the frequency of outpatient visits, emergency medical service calls, and recurrent hospitalizations within one year after discharge from the pulmonology department were identified based on the electronic medical records from the Unified Healthcare Information System of the Perm Region.

Results. During the one-year observation period, the mean number of outpatient visits was 9 [4; 13], emergency medical service calls 1 [0; 3], hospitalizations 1 [1; 2], and the Charlson comorbidity index was 6 [4; 7]. The mortality rate was 40.5 %. A Charlson index ³ 6 and ³ 2 repeated hospitalizations reflected the severity of patients’ condition and significantly increased the risk of death by 4.2 (95 % CI: 1.56–11.21) and 2.8 (95 % CI: 1.02–9.38) times, respectively. A score of ³ 14 points on the integral scale of dynamic monitoring effectiveness increased the risk of death by 3.6 times (95 % CI: 1.16–11.2). The highest risk of adverse prognosis was having ³ 2 emergency medical service calls, corresponding to an over 4.4-fold increase in mortality risk (95 % CI: 1.34–14.78).

Conclusions. The key predictors of mortality are the Charlson comorbidity index, frequency of emergency medical service calls, recurrent hospitalizations, and the integrated scale for assessing the effectiveness of remote follow-up.

Geochemical ecology of circulatory system diseases in the plain zone of Dagestan: the role of macroelement content in soil and drinking water

Petrosova V.G., Krivtsov A.V., Agmadova Z.M., Salikhov S.K., Yahiyaev M.A.

Abstract

Objective. To identify and quantitatively assess the relationship between the content of macronutrients (magnesium, potassium, and calcium) in soils and drinking water and mortality rates from circulatory system diseases (CSD) among the adult population of the lowland zone of the Northwestern Caspian region of Dagestan.

Materials and Methods. Official mortality data from CSD in five districts of lowland Dagestan were analyzed. Soil and natural water samples were collected (10 samples per district). Concentrations of Mg, K, and Ca were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. Correlation analysis was performed at the level of 5 districts (n = 5), with 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) for Pearson’s coefficients calculated after Fisher’s z-transformation; exact p-values were computed using Student’s t-distribution with df = 3.

Results. Statistically significant inverse correlations were found for drinking water: potassium r = –0.97 (95 % CI: –0.999 to –0.61; p = 0.006), calcium r = –0.94 (95 % CI: –0.996 to –0.34; p = 0.017), and magnesium r = –0.88 (95 % CI: –0.992 to 0.011; p = 0.049). For soils: potassium r = –0.90 (95 % CI: –0.993 to –0.09; p = 0.037), calcium r = –0.91 (95 % CI: –0.994 to –0.14; p = 0.032), and magnesium r = –0.87 (95 % CI: –0.991 to 0.053; p = 0.055). The Kizilyurtovsky district, with the highest element content, was characterized by the lowest mortality rate (184.1 per 100,000).

Conclusions. The population-level association found indicates a potential role of geochemical imbalance as a factor associated with the risk of mortality from cardiovascular pathology. Individual-level studies are required to verify causal relationships.

Predicting the effectiveness of systemic immunosuppressive therapy for psoriatic arthritis based on immunological data

Arsenyeva A.A., Ereshchenko A.A., Migacheva N.B., Lyamin A.V., Gribkova O.V., Ilyasov P.V., Orlov E.V.

Abstract

Objective. To develop and evaluate a prognostic model based on clinical and laboratory data to predict the risk of failure of systemic immunosuppressive therapy in patients with psoriatic arthritis.

Materials and methods. A total of 51 patients with psoriatic arthritis who required systemic immunosuppressive therapy were followed up; they had not received it for the preceding 6 months. Prior to treatment, clinical and immunological parameters were assessed. The efficacy of therapy was determined by achievement of PASI 50 (a decrease in the PASI index by 50 % or more) and a decrease in clinical arthritis activity. A prognostic model was developed using binary logistic regression, and its discriminatory ability was tested using ROC analysis.

Results. Improvement was noted in 62.7 % of patients (32 out of 51 patients). Responders had significantly higher baseline PASI scores (median 29.0 vs. 18.0; p < 0.001) and BSA scores (median 35.0 vs. 16.0; p < 0.001). Baseline serum IL-12 differed significantly between the groups, with lower values observed in patients with improvement (8.98 pg/mL vs 9.59 pg/mL; p = 0.001). Baseline IL-17 and TNF-α levels showed no prognostic significance. The binary logistic regression prognostic model based on IL-12 was statistically significant (p < 0.001). In ROC analysis, the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.771 (95 % CI: 0.629-0.912), indicating good discriminative ability of the model. At the selected threshold, the model sensitivity was 84.2 % and specificity 62.5 %.

Conclusions. Higher baseline PASI and BSA scores are associated with a better response to methotrexate, whereas IL-17 and TNF- α are not prognostic markers. Low baseline IL-12 levels represent a promising biomarker of treatment efficacy. The developed prognostic model can be used for personalized prediction of response to methotrexate in patients with psoriatic arthritis.

The effect of implant level in single six-support bridge-like prosthesis designs on the stress-strain state of structural elements based on three-dimensional mathematical modeling

Serebryanyy S.V., Muraev A.A., Salekh K.M., Mukhametshin R.F., Komarov A.P., Astashina N.B., Ivashkevich S.G., Ivanov S.Y.

Abstract

Objective. To evaluate the stress-strain state of bone tissue supported by six dental implants under various types of occlusal loading by finite element analysis.

Materials and methods. A three-dimensional finite element model of the mandibular segment with six implants and a fixed bridge prosthesis was developed. The properties of cortical and cancellous bone and titanium implants were modeled. The analysis was performed using the von Mises stress criterion to assess equivalent stresses in the bone, implants, and prosthesis.

Results. The finite element method was used to evaluate the implant–bone system under various occlusal loads. Under a 500 N load on the incisors, the maximum von Mises stresses in the implants were 550.8 MPa (position 4.2) and 523.7 MPa (position 3.2), with displacements up to 0.109 mm. Under an 800 N load on the molars, the stresses in the implants reached 591.3 MPa (position 4.6) and 545.1 MPa (position 4.4), with displacements of 0.049 mm and 0.028 mm, respectively. In the bone tissue surrounding the implants under the 500 N load, the average stresses ranged from 8.8 MPa (position 4.2) to 18.9 MPa (position 3.2). The modeling accounted for the difference between cortical and cancellous layers through the finite element mesh.

Conclusions. Thus, three-dimensional finite element analysis enabled quantitative assessment of the stress–strain state of a six-implant-supported fixed dental prosthesis, with the implants placed at different levels. The distribution of equivalent stresses and displacements was markedly non-uniform. Under each loading condition, the highest stresses were recorded in the implant placed 3 mm deeper than the adjacent implant.

Morphofunctional remodeling of maxillary sinus tissues during subantral augmentation with bone graft materials (part 1)

Sirak S.V., Gatilo I.A., Perikova M.G., Kobylkina T.L., Averyanov S.V., Iurasov A.Y., Dedikov D.N.

Abstract

Objective. To analyze morphological and functional transformations of the mucous membrane and bone structures of the maxillary sinus during subantral augmentation using β-tricalcium phosphate.

Materials and methods. The experiment was conducted on 14 sheep (control and experimental groups of 7 animals each). All animals, kept under standard conditions with their usual diet, underwent subantral augmentation using an open technique according to the author's method (patent RU 2729651). In the experimental group, β-tricalcium phosphate granules were applied to the mucosa; in the control group, the defect was left to fill with a blood clot. Follow-up biopsies were performed under general anesthesia at 1, 2, and 3 months after surgery. The evaluation included a qualitative analysis of changes in the epithelium, lamina propria of the Schneiderian membrane, bone plate, and periosteum.

Results. The results demonstrate a biphasic response: initial necrosis and inflammation, followed by reparative processes such as epithelial metaplasia, lamina propria fibrosis, bioresorption of the material, and the formation of reticulofibrous bone tissue. In the experimental group, ramolithic cysts (bone cysts resulting from tissue necrosis) with osteogenesis were observed, confirming the osteoinductive properties of β-tricalcium phosphate. These changes highlight the importance of monitoring tissue responses to optimize implant procedures in the maxilla.

Conclusions. This study demonstrates that subantral augmentation using a bioresorbable composite material based on β-tricalcium phosphate induces a complex tissue response, including initial necrosis and inflammation of the mucosa and bone, followed by bioresorption and osseointegration.

Morphological changes in hemorrhoidal tissue exposed to laser radiation at 8, 9, 10 W: an experimental study

Zasorin A.A., Sozonov D.M., Mikheeva O.A.

Abstract

Objective. To determine morphological changes in hemorrhoidal tissue when exposed to laser radiation with different powers (8, 9 and 10 W) and a wavelength of 1560 nm in vitro.

Materials and methods. The article presents the results of an experimental study of morphological changes in hemorrhoidal tissue under the influence of laser radiation of various powers using a diode laser with a wavelength of 1560 nm. Each group included 15 specimens of hemorrhoidal nodes obtained after hemorrhoidectomy in patients with stage III chronic hemorrhoids. In the first group, the effects of exposure at 8 W were studied; in the second — at 9 W; and the third — at 10 W. The exposure was performed via a laser fiber inserted into the engorged hemorrhoidal tissue in a pulsed mode for 3 seconds. After fixation, the samples were stained with hematoxylin and eosin and subjected to morphological analysis.

Results. The study revealed that the depth of damage and the nature of morphological changes depended on the applied power. At a power of 8 W, the most pronounced thermal damage was observed, with a depth of up to 4 mm and indistinct boundaries of coagulation necrosis. A power of 9 W caused damage to a depth of 3 mm, while at 10 W the depth was 2 mm with clear boundaries and minimal changes in the surrounding tissues. Macroscopically, a reduction in node mass was recorded, most pronounced in the 8 W group.

Conclusions. The study established differences in the depth of thermal damage and the severity of coagulation necrosis. It was shown that laser power significantly affects the depth and extent of tissue changes, which can serve as a basis for selecting laser exposure parameters in clinical practice. Laser exposure with a power of 8 W causes the deepest and most extensive tissue damage to the hemorrhoidal node. Based on morphological data, a power of 8 W at a wavelength of 1560 nm can be recommended for patients with stage III chronic hemorrhoids.

Experimental in-vitro laboratory study of the effect of acrylic removable denture base materials on the growth of representatives of the normal oral microbiota (Streptococcus salivarius)

Shuliatnikova O.A., Godovalov A.P., Panteleev D.S., Yakovlev M.V.

Abstract

Objective. To evaluate the effect of acrylic removable denture materials on the growth of a representative of the normal oral microbiota using Streptococcus salivarius M18 as a model.

Materials and methods. The study was performed in vitro. S. salivarius M18 strain was cultured in the presence of MMA at concentrations of 0.01; 0.1 and 1.0 µg/mL. The growth kinetics, biomass accumulation indicators, and bacterial cycle phase characteristics were assessed. Statistical processing was carried out using parametric and non-parametric methods at a significance level of p < 0.05.

Results. No statistically significant inhibitory effect of MMA on integral growth indicators was found (p > 0.05). However, a dose-dependent modulating effect was observed: the low concentration (0.01 µg/mL) was accompanied by a tendency to stimulate growth, while 0.1–1.0 µg/mL was associated with a decrease in biomass accumulation in the stationary phase. The obtained data indicate the preserved viability and functional activity of the probiotic strain under conditions close to the clinical functioning of acrylic prostheses. This is of practical importance for the development of probiotic care products for prosthodontic appliances.

Conclusions. Methyl methacrylate at concentrations corresponding to the residual monomer levels of acrylic dentures does not have a critical suppressive effect on the growth of S. salivarius M18. The preservation of its biological activity substantiates the possibility of using probiotic components for the prevention of microbial colonization of removable dental prostheses and reduction the risk of inflammatory complications in prosthetic dentistry.
